Updated: 5/7/25
Our virtual events take place on our DRMA Event Discord where we utilize text and voice chats to represent all of our In Game play spaces. There will be Roleplay and Module spaces; where you can roll digital dice and narrate your characters’ actions.
Modules are scheduled and can be signed up for in advance through the event check-in in the database. Any last minute open slots will be announced in our event server shortly before the mod is set to start.
Full details of how Virtual Events run can be found in the “DR Live Virtual Play Guide” found: HERE
But in this blog post we’ll break down some of the big topics you’ll need to know to play.
What is a Virtual Inventory
Virtual Inventory (LIT) is a personal item catalogue separate from your physical cards. When your character attends a virtual event, you should treat any physical item cards they have as if they were left at home for an in-person event. While technically owned, they’re unavailable for the current event.
Items listed on your pre-game Production Form can be added to your LIT for further use at virtual events.
Please note that ALL items gained from ZoMs, NPCs, and modules (that do not exceed loot limits) will go into your LIT.
Anything you produce at an in-person game can also be entered into your LIT, at the time of creation, when you visit the Public Works. This would occur in place of receiving a physical item card.
Once an item is entered into your LIT, it cannot be removed/exchanged for a physical card.
The trading of items in LIT is also not allowed; however attending players may contribute items from their LIT directly to one another’s crafting & production.
How Crafting & Production works
Every player has a total of 6 hours of production per Virtual event. This time can be split however you’d like between any/all of your characters that are checked into the event.
Skill usage costs the normal amounts of Mind and Resolve, and you must use your existing Mind and Resolve during crafting.
Mind and Resolve recovery items CANNOT be used for crafting & production.
Crafting & production can only use items from your Virtual Inventory (LIT) or what other players in attendance contribute from their LIT.
At the time of creation you’ll also decide how you’d like to receive each item: mailed to you as a physical card for use at in-person events, or logged into LIT for future virtual event use.
NOTE: As of the 3.12.25 Virtual Guide, ALL Necrology related resources and items are limited to production or earning only at in-person events and cannot be created during virtual events.
5/7 Clarification Update: Necrology items/resources can be gained at virtual events via the pre-game "crafting" portion of the virtual event Production Form; so long as you have all the necessary items/resources required to do so already in your LIT or being gained earlier on your crafting sheet.
You cannot gain/produce necrology items during play of virtual events (ex. Dead Market Harvest).
To submit your crafting & production please use our Production Form
(with thanks to the DRCO team for sharing their template!)
*This form is also where you will log your ZoM/NPC/Mod gains (see tab 3 of the form)
How to engage in virtual Mods
During mods, our mod runners will narrate scenes, combats, and environment interactions for you to engage with. Your character will act and react to these situations as they arise; and your mod runner will give you a Difficulty Rating (DR) to beat based on what you are attempting.
To beat these DRs, you will roll a 20-sided die using a virtual dice bot. The result of your rolls can also be modified based your character’s stats so make sure to keep your character sheet handy.
Here Are a Few Resources Shared By Other Branches:
The Team at DROH made this quick reference chart for virtual rolls.
The team at DRMI made a handy DR:L Virtual character sheet chart, if you’d like to use it to easily live track your die modifiers and stats: DRL Virtual Character Sheet
*Please make sure to save your own copy of the form, rather than updating the template.
The Dice Bot
The team at DROH has also made, and generously shared, a Discord bot to help streamline rolls during mods. Below are details they’ve provided on how to use the bot!
/initiative
or/roll
Which will give you an array of buttons to click to determine the bonus if applicable./initiative will ask how many uses of Enhanced Movement and roll for you with the bonus. It will also insert your initiative roll in front of your Discord nickname for easy sorting. There are 2 times it will not though. The first is if you are an Admin of the server. It can only change nicknames of users below it in the hierarchy. The 2nd is if your name exceeds max length with the numbers. I recommend only having what people call you instead of your entire character name.
/roll will give you the 3 roll options: Development, Impact, and Default.
Development rolls will be a normal d20 roll to compare against a DC set by the writer.
Impact rolls will ask for uses left of the specific Impact skill to determine the bonus.
Default skills will ask for your Resolve to determine the bonus.
*When typing the commands in the text channel, you’ll see a command menu automatically appear. You’ll want to select the 2data2beige bot option, then hit enter.
If you have any questions about this process, please email dystopiarisingmass@gmail.com by Wednesday before the event at the latest; or open a Director support ticket in the event server during the weekend.
*You will need to save a copy of the Production Form, update the title to include your name and player number, and share editor access to us when ready.
